My birth name is Mark, but these days I go by Marcus. I was told by my mother they chose Mark, because it was the easiest name my father could spell, a four letter word and one syllable. Talk about a major source of inspiration. My brothers said they saw a cartoon on TV and decided it should be Mark, really interesting, since I like drawing comics and cartoons. Years later, when I got older, I decided to look up the meaning of my name. To my surprise, it was of Greek origin. It means combative, or warlike. Out of curiosity, I looked up the name Marcus. In Latin it means, Mars the God of War. That’s too cool, I’m named after a God. But interestingly in Hebrew it means polite or shining.
